1909-1996 NEW HAMBURG - Claude William Dirnberger, 86, died at 9:05 a.m. May 9, 1996, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. born Aug. 8, 1909, at New Hamburg, son of the late Andrew and Catherine Dannenmueller Dirnberger, he owned and operated Dirnberger's Store at New Hamburg. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic church and the Men's Sodality of the church at New Hamburg and Knights of Columbus Council 1111 of Cape Girardeau. On Oct 11, 1931, at Benton, he married Rebecca Brock who survives of the home. Other survivors include: four sons, Richard Dirnberger and Glen Dirnberger of Cape Girardeau, David Dirnberger of New Hamburger and Andrew Dirnberger of Branson; three daughters, Lois Spalding, Janet Vetter and Vera Hennemann of Benton; one sister, Armella Alt of Cape Girardeau; and 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Six brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton, where a 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus parish prayer will be followed by parish prayers at 7:30 p.m. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at St Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.NOTE: contributed by Annette Lale, June 2000.
