    1912-1999

    ORAN - Henry J. "H.J." Eftink, 86, died at 11:55 p.m. June 13, 1999, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Born Oct 10, 1912, in Leopold, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Elfrink) Eftink, he was a retired farmer. He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran and St. Joseph Sodality. On Oct 5, 1937, he married Delpha Katherine LaFont who survives of the home. Other survivors include: seven sons, Monsignor Edward M. Eftink of Jackson, Michael J. Eftink of Gordonville, Thomas H. Eftink of Chaffee, Larry R. Eftink of Springfield, David E. Eftink of Oran, Louis M. Eftink of Sedgwick, Kan., and Kenneth J. Eftink of Bloomfield; one daughter, Barbara J. Jarvis of St. Louis; two brothers, George Eftink of Chaffee and Andrew Eftink of Portageville; two sisters, Emma Gaines of Oran and Mary Klipfel of Portageville; and 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One brother and one sister preceded him death. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, where parish prayers are scheduled for 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus prayer service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Thursday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church with Monsignor Edward M. Eftink officiating. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Catholic Cemetery. Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel of Oran is in charge of arrangements.
