Mrs. Marie Reed Hazel - 1891 - 1973 She was born in Centerville, Illinois December 26, 1891 the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ralls. Married to Alva Reed 1911 and he died 1914, to this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Susan Earleen Meek of Cape Girardeau, Mo. She was married to Hollis Hazel 1917 and he passed away 1944. The family moved to Perkins 1919 from St. Charles, Mo. Mrs. Hazel was a member of the First Baptist Church, Perkins, was a Merchant and Post Mistress, also a land owner in that community. Surviving - one daughter Mrs. Susan Earleen Meek of Cape Girardeau, Mo, son-in-law Mr. Earl Meek of Cape Girardeau, Mo, 2 sisters Mrs. Violet Hart, Cape, Mrs. Roy Enlow, St. Louis, nephew and nieces. Two sisters and 3 brothers deceased. NOTE: The following obituary is contributed by Floyd Cooper, from the records of his grandfather Rev. William Sidney Bailey who was pastor of several churches around southeast Missouri in the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's and 1970's (Perkins, Chaffee, Commerce, Hayti, Wyatt, Clarkton, and Blodgett). Rev. Bailey was living in Perkins when he died at the age of 82 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery in Perkins, MO.
