Asa Vanburen Holmes - 1867- 1942 Asa Vanburen HOLMES was born Feb. 27, 1867 near Carrollton, Ill.,
the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. HOLMES, and passed away Oct. 1, 1942. He came to this county with his father & sister at the age of 4
years and has lived around this neighborhood for 71 yrs.
He was united in marriage to Vicie WELLS of Sikeston.
To this union 9 children were born, 5 preceded him in death.
Those surviving are Mrs. Robert DUNCAN & Cora HOLMES of Pontiac,
Mich., Ira HOLMES Evansville, Ind., and Ralph HOLMES at home; 3 grandchildren
