Charlotte A. (WORLEY) HOLMES -1846-1924

Mrs. Charlotte A. HOLMES died last Saturday afternoon at four o'clock (Feb. 23, 1924) at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. TICKELL, on William Street after an illness of nearly 2 yrs. from Bright's disease.

Mrs. HOLMES was born Oct. 21, 1846, in Jackson, Mississippi, and at the time of her death was 78 yrs., 4 mo., and 2 days of age.  She came to Sikeston at the age of 20 years and has since made her home here. She is survived by five children, three daughters and 2 sons; Mrs. W. A. TICKELL, of this city; Mrs. Alma WOLFE, of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Agnes BROWN, of Dexter; M. A. HOLMES, of Randals; and Walter HOLMES D., Sr., of near ORAN.  Bill GUESS, of this city is a grandson.  Mrs. TICKELL and the 2 sons were present at the funeral, the other two daughters were unable to attend.  The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Wood at the Catholic church Monday afternoon.  Interment was in the City cemetery.
