Mrs. Ulus Harper - 1909 - 1967 The former Miss Stella Pauline McKinley, she was born July 10, 1909, in Tennessee. She was a member of the Bement Baptist Church. Besides her husband, survivors include a son Donald Harper, Bertrand and six daughters Mrs. Onis Learue and Mrs. Lynn McKinnie of Sikeston, Mrs. Bill White of Charleston, Mrs. Jerry Holland, Mrs. Bob Bachus and Mrs. Glenn Hatley all of Bertrand. Also surviving are a sister Mrs. Harvey Jobe of Bertrand; seven brothers Mathel McKinley of Sikeston, William, Walter, Clayborn and Horace McKinley all of Bertrand, Woodrow McKinley of Fredericktown and Homer McKinley of Illmo; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Arrangements were handled by Nunnelee Funeral Home. NOTE: The following obituary is contributed by Floyd Cooper, from the records of his grandfather Rev. William Sidney Bailey who was pastor of several churches around southeast Missouri in the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's and 1970's (Perkins, Chaffee, Commerce, Hayti, Wyatt, Clarkton, and Blodgett). Rev. Bailey was living in Perkins when he died at the age of 82 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery in Perkins, MO.
