Mrs. Ora Lee Jolly
Mrs. Ora Lee Jolly was born
December 28, 1901 at Vanduser, Missouri and was the daughter of the late Lee and Bertha
Inscore Dodson. She had lived in Scott County for the past 31 years and had lived in
Blodgett for the past 17 years. Mrs. Jolly was a member of the Blodgett Baptist
Church. She was united in marriage to Mr. Walter Lee Jolly June 22, 1920. Mrs.
Jolly is survived by one son, Mr. Edward Lee Jolly of Blodgett, Missouri and one daughter
Mrs. Glendora Burke, of Los Angeles, California; 4 brothers Mack Dodson of Sikeston, Mo.,
Billy Dodson of Blodgett, Mo, Joe Dodson of Commerce and Ward Dodson of Venice,
California, and 3 grandchildren. Mrs. Jolly passed away at her home in Blodgett,
Missouri at 7:14 am Saturday July 22, 1961 and at the time of her passing was 59 years 6
months and 24 days of age. Mrs. Jolly will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved
her.
NOTE: The following obituary is contributed by Floyd Cooper, from the records of his grandfather Rev. William Sidney Bailey who was pastor of several churches around southeast Missouri in the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's and 1970's (Perkins, Chaffee, Commerce, Hayti, Wyatt, Clarkton, and Blodgett). Rev. Bailey was living in Perkins when he died at the age of 82 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery in Perkins, MO.
