Larry W. Lancaster - 1945 - 1963 Larry W. Lancaster, 18 years old of Perkins, died in a Cape Girardeau hospital of injuries received in an auto-train collision in Perkins. He was a passenger in the car being driven by Ray Wagoner, 17 of Painton. The train was a north-bound Cotton Belt freight being operated by A. M. Bunting, 64 of Illmo, as engineer. The Wagoner youth is reported in critical condition at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau with injuries to the head and leg. Young Lancaster was born October 9, 1945 near Painton. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lancaster. Surviving besides his parents are five brothers Robert Lee Lancaster, Jr. of St. Louis, Wesley Dean, Leslie Gene, Dennis Ray and Allen Eric Lancaster all of the home; his paternal grandmother Mrs. Clara Wilson of Chaffee and his maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Otis Hoggs of Painton. NOTE: The following obituary is contributed by Floyd Cooper, from the records of his grandfather Rev. William Sidney Bailey who was pastor of several churches around southeast Missouri in the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's and 1970's (Perkins, Chaffee, Commerce, Hayti, Wyatt, Clarkton, and Blodgett). Rev. Bailey was living in Perkins when he died at the age of 82 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery in Perkins, MO.
