    Lela Rowena McCarty - 1885 - 1965
    Lela Rowena McCarty
    , age 80 of Oran, passed away at 2:45 AM Sunday in a Cape Girardeau hospital, where she had been admitted 2 hours earlier.

    Mrs. McCarty was born Feb. 28, 1885 at Morrow, Ohio - parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Scott.

    She was married to John Parks McCarty of South Lebanon, Ohio.   The family moved to Oran from Spring Valle, Ohio in March of 1913, and have been residents here since that time.

    Survivors - 6 daughters
        Mrs. Sarah E. Swanagon - Torrance, California
        Mrs. H. B. (Mary E.) Green - Bridgeton, Mo.
        Miss Honora J. McCarty - Overland, Mo.
        Mrs. Grace McCallister - Oran, Mo.
        Mrs. Herbert (Olive) Carr - Aux Vasse, Mo.
        Mrs. Thomas (Eudora) Graviett - Oran, Mo.

    2 brothers
        Albert T. Scott - Tucson, Arizona
        Walter C. Scott - Morrow, Ohio

    2 sisters
        Mrs. Lola Long - Dayton, Ohio
        Mrs. Lavina Leinenberger, Cincinnati, Ohio

    18 grandchildren - 33 great grandchildren - 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends mourn her passing.


NOTE: The following obituary is contributed by Floyd Cooper, from the records of his grandfather Rev. William Sidney Bailey who was pastor of several churches around southeast Missouri in the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's and 1970's (Perkins, Chaffee, Commerce, Hayti, Wyatt, Clarkton, and Blodgett). Rev. Bailey was living in Perkins when he died at the age of 82 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery in Perkins, MO.
