    James William Moore - 1873 - 1948
    James William Moore
    , born February 8, 1873, in Seline County, Illinois died June 29, 1948 at Sikeston Hospital at 10:40 pm.

    He came to Missouri at the age of 17, and lived in this vicinity the remainder of his life, where he was an active farmer until 3 years ago.  At the death of his wife, he retired and has since been living with his daughter, Mrs. Leslie Rister.

    September 18, 1898, he was married to Miss Mary Ann Pool.   Born to this union 5 children, all of which preceded him in death but one daughter, Mrs. Leslie Rister.

    He professed faith in Christ at an early age.

    He helped organize and build Moore's Chapel Church where he was Sunday School Supt. for a number of years.

    He was active in Masonic and IOOF Lodge. He was a mason for 42 years.

    Besides his daughter, he is survived by two grandsons, Billy and Buddy and two great grandchildren, Margaret Ann and Tommy Rister all of Sikeston.


NOTE: The following obituary is contributed by Floyd Cooper, from the records of his grandfather Rev. William Sidney Bailey who was pastor of several churches around southeast Missouri in the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's and 1970's (Perkins, Chaffee, Commerce, Hayti, Wyatt, Clarkton, and Blodgett). Rev. Bailey was living in Perkins when he died at the age of 82 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery in Perkins, MO.
