    Harriett R. Phegley - 1879 - 1959
    Harriet R. Phegley
    , a daughter of the late William H. and Julia McClanahan, was born October 11, 1879 near Red Bud, Illinois, passed away in a Cape Girardeau hospital Wednesday at 6:35 pm at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 3 days.

    November 1900, she was married to Mr. Joseph D. Phegley.   To this union were born 7 children, one preceding her in death.  Mr. Phegley passed away May 16, 1948.

    She and Mr. Phegley moved to the Oran community in 1911 and to Oran in 1942.

    Mrs. Phegley united with the Baptist Church about 9 years ago and professed this faith to the end.

    She is survived by 1 son: William H. Phegley of Flint, Michigan; 5 daughters: Mrs. Anthony Bollinger of Dexter, Missouri,   Mrs. Marion Hunt of Flint,Michigan, Mrs. Otto M. Golightly of Oran, Missouri, Mrs. Ben Kirn of Chaffee,  Missouri, and Mrs. Max Kennedy of Caseyville, Illinois; 1 step-daughter Mrs. A. A. Hosea of Oran, Missouri; 1 brother Steve McClanahan of Robertson, Missouri; 2 sisters Mrs. Grace Phegley of Ironton, Missouri and Mrs. Charles Coe of Chicago, Illinois; 23 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a large host of friends.


NOTE: The following obituary is contributed by Floyd Cooper, from the records of his grandfather Rev. William Sidney Bailey who was pastor of several churches around southeast Missouri in the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's and 1970's (Perkins, Chaffee, Commerce, Hayti, Wyatt, Clarkton, and Blodgett). Rev. Bailey was living in Perkins when he died at the age of 82 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery in Perkins, MO.
