    Sister M. Virgil OSF formerly the Miss Bertilla Miller,  born to Edward Lawrence Miller and Caroline Kielhoefner on November 4, 1900. Sister M Virgil was the sixth daughter born to Edward and Caroline Miller.  Of the family of six girls and two boys, her sister Marie, and her brother Andrew, are living.  Two of her sisters, Sister Emmauel (Zita), snf Sister Michael (Genevieve) were members of our Congregation. Sister Virgil attended guardian Angel School in Oran, Missouri, and graduated from St. Francis Academy.  She earned a Bachelor of Music degree through her continued studies at the College of St. Francis, Marquette and DePaul Universities. Out of state schools where Sister Virgil served as an elementary teacher include: Our Lady of Grace, Muskegon, Michigan: St Denis, Benton, Mo: and St Stephen, Johnstown, Pa.

    • However, most of Sister's teaching, in her 49 years of ministry, was done in Illinois.  In Chicago she taught at St. Clements, St. Ludmilla, Sacred Heart (Englewood) and St Pascal.  She guided children at St Joseph , Freeport; St.Bernard, Joliet; St. Mary, Mt Vernon; St. Ann, Lansing; and Divine Savior, Norridge
    Sister M Virgil, OSF of the sisters of St Francis of Mary Immaculate, 520 Plainfield Road. Age 90 years. Professed as a religious for 71 years. Originally of Oran, Mo.  Served in the fields of education for 65 years.  Will be waked at our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, Joliet on Thursday, December 13 from 2 to 7 p.m. with Prayer Service at 4:30 p.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 7 p.m.  Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville on Friday at 9 a.m.  Survived by a brother Andrew.  Memorials can be made to the Sisters of Saint Francis, Joliet.  Funeral services under the direction of Fred C Dames Funeral Home, 251 N.
