    Ted Walter Smith
    , 65, died May 6, 1973, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau where he had been a patient for seven weeks.

    Smith was born June 29, 1907 at Neosho.  On March 8, 1928, he married Miss Nola Jones of Dover, Arkansas.  The couple moved to Oran in February, 1940.

    Smith was employed by International Hat Factory for 22 years and retired June 29, 1972.  He was a member of Oran First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 184 of Morley and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 842 of Morley.

    Survivors include his widow; one son Charles W. Smith of Russellville, Arkansas; one brother Sam Smith of Big Bear, California; his foster parents Mr. and Mrs. Tom Caudle of Scottsdale, Arkansas; and two grandchildren.

    Masonic services were conducted at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home, funeral services were held at First Baptist Church with Rev. Alonzo Dale, Pastor, officiating, burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.




NOTE: The following obituary is contributed by Floyd Cooper, from the records of his grandfather Rev. William Sidney Bailey who was pastor of several churches around southeast Missouri in the 1940's, 1950's, 1960's and 1970's (Perkins, Chaffee, Commerce, Hayti, Wyatt, Clarkton, and Blodgett). Rev. Bailey was living in Perkins when he died at the age of 82 and is buried in the Williams Cemetery in Perkins, MO.
