Surnames:(in capital letters only) HURT * SPENCE
Comments:
NATHAN B. HURT and his wife, SELENA J. SANDERS HURT lived in Sikeston, Richland Township, in 1880. He worked in a sawmill. Selena died by about 1886; she left 5 children: Frank born 1875, Nora in 1878 (in Vienna, IL), Abraham in Sept of 1881, Lucy Jane in Dec. of 1883 and Prince Albert in Feb of 1886. I believe she is buried in either Scott Co or New Madrid. Nathan remarried in Nov of 1886 and died in 1890. The kids were farmed out to several area families. Nathan & Selena were married in 1874 in Vienna, Johnson Co IL. She was daughter of Thomas Armstead Sanders and Mary Jane Riggins; he was son of Nathan Hurt, Jr and Lucy Wright.

NORA HURT married JOHN SPENCE about 1895. He worked at the lumber company; they were active in the Methodist Church. The Rausch - Spence Methodist Church was named for them. I believe that is in Morehouse, New Madrid? Co.

Nathan & Selena are my great grandparents. I would like to find where they are buried - I don't think anyone has tended their graves since their deaths. Even my grandmother, Lucy Jane Hurt Jones, had no idea where they were buried.

Appreciate any help.

Surnames:(in capital letters only) MATNEY, HUFFSTETLER
Comments:
Lokking for ancestors and more information on these people:
Sterling Price Matney born 2-10-1863 in Scott Co; MO.
Died on 10-13-1927 in Commerece, Mo; buried in Morley Cemetery.
His wife Laura Adeline Huffstetler (Matney) born 2-19-1866 in Scott Co; MO. She died in Commerece, Mo; on 7-13-1942. We need their marriage date and place.
Her father is thought to be Ely Huffstetler, listed in the 1880 Scott Co; Mo; census at age 49, from Illinois and a widower. His son William Huffstetler age 23, and also born in Illinois. His daughter Adeline Huffstetler age 14, and born in Missouri. We feel positive this was Laura Adeline Huffstetler (Matney). Also in the 1880 Scott Co; Mo; census as a widow is Elizabeth Matney age 40; and born in Missouri. Her son Thomas Matney age 21, and born in Missouri. Her son Price Matney age 18, wife of Laura and he also is born in Missouri. Her son David Matney age 17, and born in Missouri. And a daughter Bridgett Matney age 9, and born in Missouri.
We also would like help in finding the husband of Elizabeth Matney, as well as the wife of Ely Huffstetler. Any information on their marriages is appreciated also.
