Born Aug. 13, 1901 in Knox City, Knox Co, Missouri. He was the son of Daniel Leroy Dyer and Jessie Viola Culler. Enlisted July 7, 1918 at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, Mo. Left for France 30 Aug 1918. Returned to U.S. 25 Apr 1919. Discharged 29 April 1919. Married Virginia Delores Martin in 1937. Fathered nine children (4 of which from a previous marriage). Children: George Jacob Dyer, Jr.; Mary Dyer; Lawrence Dyer; Patricia Dyer; Dora Jean Dyer; Daniel Leroy Dyer; David Bryan Dyer; Billie Yvonne Dyer; Rosalie Erma Dyer. Later in life served as a security guard at the Illinois Soldiers & Sailors home in Quincy Illinois. Died 21 July 1961, at Quincy, Adams Co., Illinois.
