These pictures are from the Brueckner, Nolte,
Schaller, Spraul, Yeckel families who emigrated to St. Louis from Germany
between 1860 to1891. They settled in the neighborhoods around Soulard Market and Anheuser-Busch Brewery. Contributed by Joan Schaller

Sued St. Louis Turnverein- Exterior 10th and
Carroll St. circa 1900. This organizations was founded in 1864 and celebrated
its Golden Jubilee in 1914. On the pediment : "Sued St. Louis Turn-Halle" or
South St. Louis Turner Hall.

The photo above is circa 1892- Alma Yeckel
nee Spraul (green mark). I believe this is at the South St. Louis
Turnverein, 10th and Carroll. The gentleman on the left appears to be Louis
Kittlaus, the physical director there for many years.
