DAVIS, MOORE, SWALLOWS, SWAN, WOODRUFF posted by Doug Powers on Thursday, June 5, 1997

Requesting info on the family of my g-grandmother, Lula Ruth SWAN, b. @ 1896 near Essex, Missouri. She was the daughter of Jesse and Eliza Victoria DAVIS SWAN. I believe that Jesse's father was named Thomas, but am not sure. Eliza Victoria was the daughter of James C. and Eliza Anne MOORE DAVIS. James C. was born in October of 1828 in Caldwell County, KY. His mother's name was Elizabeth. He remarried in the 1870's in Livingstone Co., KY to a woman named Margaret. He and his mother and family then moved to Stoddard County, Missouri. James C. and Margaret DAVIS were still living in 1900. Eliza Victoria and Jesse SWAN divorced before 1900 and she remarried Fielding WOODRUFF. They later moved to Leachville, Mississippi County, Arkansas. My g-grandmother Lula Ruth SWAN stayed in Stoddard County and later married Charley Anderson SWALLOWS. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

MABERRY posted by Joyce Brown on Monday, June 23, 1997

I am searching for any information on MABERRY'S. Spelling of name varies. My great great grandfather was Joshua MABERRY, born about 1804 in Geogia. Possibly married in Alabama as his first four children were born in Alabama, possibly Marion Co. He first appears in Stoddard Co. on the 1840 Stoddard Census. In 1850 he was shown married to Sarah ?, children William, Jackson, Jesse, Caroline, Mary, Alfred, Joshua, Sarah, Ruth. He appears on the 1860, but no Census after then. Their son Jesse MABERRY, was my great grandfather. His wife Culpernia Jane ?. They were shown on the 1870 Stoddard Census with children Mary E., Sarah A., Alfred L., Ruth A, Allice L., Beatrice B. and Emily. Jesse apparently died between 1870 and 1877, as Culerpnia Jane moved to Texas as a widow and took six of her children with her. There in Hood Co, Texas she married William B. Tinnin of Mo. Three of her children were listed on the 1877-78 School records. I would appreciate any information someone might have on either of these families, especially death information. I will be happy to share. Joyce Brown
