The town of Bernie is situated on the main line of the St. Louis Southwestern Railroad between Dexter and Malden. The first settlement was made there in 1878. It was incorporated as a village in 1890 and as a city in 1908, the first mayor being L. J. Turner.
It is located at Sec. 33, 34, Twp. 24 N, R 10 E, and Sec, 3,4, Twp. 23 N, same range, at the junction of Highways V, Z & 25. Birds Corner (Birds Corners)
