that J.B. left Dry Creek abt 1881 after several years, in "dire need". Frances
Barton, Malinda Hatton, widow of Andrew Barton, Elizabeth, all moved to the
foothaill of Fresno by 1881 from Dry Creek.

Cemetary; Prairie Grove Cem is located about 2 miles S of Buffalo on 65. Row
19, #10 John Hancock; next to him was Viola Hancock 1854-1933.
Cemetary records state died in 1872; also records state married in 1875 - had a
3 year old son in 1880 - apparent error on cemetary records. Widow living with
parents in 1880 census

According to Draper MSS - about 1822 Braxton and Jesse Van Bibber were out
hunting and trapping near Santa Fe, NM. They had joined with some Spaniards in
fighting a party of marauding Commanche Indians. AS Cooper and Van Bibber
followed after the retreating Indians they were ambushed and both killed by
some of the Indians that had hidden under the river bank.
