with wife and three daughters. Moved to VA.

Notes from Nita" "This family moved from York Co, PA to Frederick Co, VA in
1750-1751. One Child born and baptized PA in 1750, then next born Frederick Co,
VA in 1752." Johan's parents were Hans Philip Zumwalt and Elizabeth Catherine
Stegg.

JACOB ZUMWALT (SON) SETTLED IN ST CHARLES COUNTY MISSOURI IN 1796 ON THE
PERUQUE CREEK; IN 1798 BUILT FIRST HEWED LOG HOUSE NORTH OF THE MISSOURI RIVER;
USED AS A FORT DURING INDIAN WARS; FIRST METHODIST SACRAMENT IN MISSOURI HELD
HERE Houck Vol. ii pg 97. Founted Fort Zumwalt. 1805 Tax List 9 in family, 6
horses, 15 near cattle. $4.50 in tax. Certificate #55 12-22-1808 listing 450
arpents on Peroque. Certificate #888 Jacob Zumwalt claimed land on Peruque 300
acres. Land had been issued to Gillis Angus 6-10-1811.
Nita Robbin reports "there is to my knowledge no proven record of the children
of Jacob & wives." "Some say Jacob of the Fort had more children. Others
claim Frederick and Anthony and Nancy (who married Lewis Crow, JR) were
grandchildren.

Ulrich "Woolery" Conrad

Nita's notes: "The relationship of the many Conrads in MO to Eliz. Conrad
Zumwalt has not been determined. They may be from her brother, Ulriah Conrad
JR who did not come to MO. He had a number of children, one of whom was
Barbara Conrad Harpole [wife of Paul]. His will dated 29 Jul 1802. There are
many records of which Conrad in VA. His will names his 2 children, inc. Eliza.
Zumwalt and Ulrich JR, father of Barbara Harpole, mother of James Harpole."
