"Leonard served briefly in the war of 1812 during the summer of 1814 in a
campaign against the Miami Indians. He was a private in the compnay of
Missouri Mounted Militia commanded by Captain Spencer in 1813 and in Captain
Boone's Company in 1814. Captain Henry Dodge led them. He was drafted for a
period of sixty days. Despite the brevity of his service Harold made numerous
attempts to obtain a pension under the Bounty Land Act of Mary 3, 1855. IN
1873 he applied again for a pension under the Act of Feb 14, 1871. After
Leonard's death Clarissa, who was living in Batchtown (Calhoun County) applied
for a wido's pension (June 1883). Then pension was denied because Leonard and
Clarissa were separated at the time of his death." Data from Harrold
