I am interested in families related to the WILSON, ROSSON, MARS or SWINDLE lines, Henry WILSON married Mary SWINDLE in Tippah county in 1860 the family lived in a location that later was to become Alcorn county. Henry had Nancy J, Mahaly J, Moses, Sarah A, Charlotte and Laney from a previous marriage to Nancy Ann Ragsdale. He and Mary had Joe, Launa, Lidia, Emily and William A. with Mary Swindle. Henry's father was Moses WILSON. Both Henry and Mary were born in Tennessee. Henry ROSSON was born in Tippah county abt 1860 to Mary ROSSON, He married Mary MARS abt 1880 in Alcorn county. They had Mamie, Joe, Bunyon, Maggie, Henry, Curtis, and Lillie. I know very little about the ROSSON and MARS families. Descendants of all 4 families moved to the Northeast portion of Texas or the Southeast portion of Oklahoma.

TN), Jackson and Clayton Jr. George died bef 1880 and Jackson is not in house with his Mother in 1880 but Clayton is still at home on the census. What happern to Jackson and Clayton? Seeking ancestors and decendants of John WHITAKER born abt 1798 in NC and died pre 1870 probably Alcorn Co. He married Cathrine BISHOP born abt 1806 in TN and died pre 1880 in probably McNairy CO. TN. She was in the house of daughter Mary COOPER in McNairy Co. in 1870. John and Cathrine were in old Tishomingo Co. (now Alcorn Co) by 1835. Their children were: 1. Willis born abt 1827 in AL and died 1856 and born in unmarked grave in or near Sharps Bottom.. He married Mary Polly FLATT in 1844 in Tishomingo Co.. They had children James, Sarah, William (Fed), John D., Thomas L. and Wilkes. 2. Wilson WHITAKER born abt 1829 in AL or TN died in 1880 in IN(now OK). He married Menivera MURPHY in 1849 in Tishomingo Co. They went to TX in the late 1850's. Their children were John Sally, Margaret Cathrine and Samuel. Wilsoon married again and had several children in TX. 3. Mary Whitaker born abt 1832, she married James Cooper in Tish Co. in 1852. Mary shows up on the McNairy Co. TN census as a widow in 1870 with children: Lewis, John, Lucinda, Manda V., and Martha. Husband James died between 1860 and 1870. 4. James Monroe (Crow) WHITAKER born in 1834 died in 1926 in McNairy Co. TN. He was married 4 times. First to Mary FLATT in 1854 in Tishomingo Co. and had children James Marion and Elizabeth. He married fourth to Sarah WILDS in McNairy Co. in 1884, they had one son Marshall who married Alice Davis WARDLOW. 5. Susan Whitaker born abt 1837 and died bef 1876 in McNairy Co. She married Samuel Dennis DANCER in 1857, children were William Pink, Sarah Jane, Susan Margaret, Nancy C., John Samuel. Samuel Dennis and some of the children went to TX after Susan died. 6. Martha Gray born abt 1839 abd died in 1911 in MO. She married Willis Gray . 7. Joseph WHITAKER born abt 1842. 8. Cathrine Caroline WHITAKER born abt 1845, died pre 1870. She married a LAMBERT. 9. Wesley WHITAKER born 1848 and died after 1900. He married Sarah CHAMBERS in McNairy Co. TN they had children John, Elizza, and Caldonia(Dona). Wesley and Sarah went to Denton Co. TX in the late 1870's, and definitely lived on the wrong side of the law. Any help on any of these people will really be appreciated. I know John WHITAKER had parents!! who were they???

WHO WAS CLEMONTINE GRIFFIN?
Looking for Clemontine, listed on the 1860 Alcorn Co. MS census as the wife of William Ellis GRIFFIN. I believe she died during the period Feb-Aug 1893. There is no record in the Alcorn Co. records nor have I seen her in any of the available cemetery records. William Ellis GRIFFIN b. 1854 in Union Co. NC came to MS with his parents William S. and Elizabeth GRIFFIN about 1860 (Tishomingo 1860 census). William Ellis GRIFFIN married twice before his death about 1933. The first was to Clemontine about 1873, the second to Mary E. CROW 17 May 1894. William Ellis GRIFFIN and Clemontine had nine children Callie b. 1874, Minnie b. 1876, Dorah b. 1879, Anna b. 1880, Mary S. b. 1883, Sarah b. 1885, William b. 1887, Arthur b. 1890, and Aepheus Ethebrit b. 1893. Clemontine could have died in child-birth in Feb 1893 in Corinth MS, where Aepheus was born. William Ellis married Mary E. Crow the next year. I haven't been able to find what Clemontine's surname is. Does anyone know my Clemontine?

Mahala Jane YORK's father was James (Jim) YORK, (born abt. 1824) who along with his brother Moses Alexander (Alex) YORK fought as Confederates in the Civil War. At one time Daniel W. Eaker born 5/15/1827 NC lived in Alcorn Co., then Old Tish. county. He died 6/15/1910 in McNairy Co., TN. One of his sons was Christopher Columbus "Lum" Eaker born 1859 m.12/11/1879 d.1898=1900. He married Temperance Hendrix b.2/1859 d.1904. I would like to know where Temperance and Christopher are buried. Some speculate Mt. Moriah Methodist Church in Alcorn County and close to Chewalla Tennessee. If they are there, they are in unmarked graves. He was supposedly murdered by a black man who worked for him on a chain gang with the railroad. Will exchange information.
