GOODON/GOODEN. GREENHALL, YORK I am researching William Goodon/Gooden. He was married to Sylvia Ann York and then believe he was also married to Thea Greenhall. His son George William Goodon was born in Corinth, Alcorn Co, MS in 1872 and his daughter was born the same place in 1894. As far as I know his son's mother was Sylvia York, but recently discovered his daughter's mother was Thea Greenhall. I have looked on quite a few census and requested lookups on others and on marriages around this time period and everyone has turned up nothing. I know these people lived there for over 20 years, can't figure out why I can't locate anything. If any one has any information on these people or any idea where else I might look, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

I'm looking for info on James Harrison Finley. He supposely served with the 32nd Miss Reg. during the Civil War. He lived close to Corinth and is believed to have died and was buried in one of the cemeteries in Corinth in 1893. He was married to Sarah Webb. |

I am trying to get a start on my grandfather's family. Here is what I know. My grandfather is Joel Henry Boltman (Joe) Jackson, born March 14, 1917. His sister was Clara Sue Jackson, born in 1909 and died in 1975. She is buried in Forrest Memorial Cemete ry on HWY 45. Their parents was Henry Joseph Jackson, born January 13, 1874 and died September 03, 1956, and Lena Fields, born October 25, 1885 in Tennessee and died December 11, 1960. They are both buried in Holly Baptist Church Cemetery on CR 713. Henry' s mother was Martha Jane Jackson, born 1841 and died 1948. She is also buried in Holly Baptist Church Cemetery on CR 713. Martha had a brother, Joseph Edward Jackson, that I found information on. He lived, mostly, in McNairy Co., TN. I have been told that the family lived on the edge of Alcorn Co., MS and McNairy Co., TN. I can not find Henry and Lena (Fields) Jackson on census in either county with their family, nor, can I find Martha and Joseph on census with th! eir parents. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Vest August 03, 1886 in Alcorn Co., MS. Louisa was born February 07, 1866 in Lawrence Co., AL a! nd died August 30, 1915 in Jacin to, Alcorn Co., MS. She is buried in Palmer Cemetery. 6.) John Campbell Duncan was born @ 1866 in Georgia. He died in Meridian, Lauderdale Co., MS. He married Delilah Melissa Palmer @ 1891. Delilah was born April 1873 in Mississippi and died in Alcorn Co., MS. The family moved to Alcorn county before the 1870 census was taken. There is some confusion as to whether the father or mother is listed on the census. The name is listed as Sinai Duncan born 1826 in Georgia. Does anybody know this family? T hank you. |

SCROGGINS: Looking for information on Abner A. Scroggins (b. 1832 in NC or TN) Wifes name is Nancy Richardson Scroggins. In 1870 census for Alcorn County they had two children, William, age 3, and Nancy, age 7. Abner A is younger brother of Smith Scroggins jr and son of Smith Scroggins, sr and Tabitha George Scroggins from NC. The 1870 census has him listed as 48 which would put his birthdate around 1822. I believe the age is wrong in this census. Abner served with the 32nd MS Volunteer Infantry, Co. A, during th e civil war. Have lost all track of him after 1870 census. Will be happy to share all information on his siblings and ancestry back to about 1790. |

I am researching Willingham\Gossett family line. George Willingham born in 1843, Tn. He married Polly Gossett Jan 13, 1867 in Alcorn Co. Polly was born in MS. 1885. They are burried at Tuscumbia Baptist Church Alcorn, Co. The tombstones were weathered and unr eadable there was however a Sarah Gossett burried there. Sarah was married to Robert Gossett. Roberts age at the time of 1880 census was 33 and sarahs was 27 their daughter orazana age 7. George and Polly had six children Lue born 1882, Julia-1884, Charlie-18 86, Sarah-1888, George M-1889,Frank-1893 In the 1900 census Sarah had a niece named Lizzie Gossett born 1892 and a nephew Amierson Gossett born 1894. In the 1900 census their place of residence was Tippah County. |

May 15, 1998. In the 1850's Elizabeth Lewallen migrated from Jackson County Alabama to Tishomingo County Mississippi with her two sons Andrew J. and Daniel. Elizabeth appears in the 1860 Tishomingo County census living with William Lewallen, James Lewallen an d son Daniel Lewallen. In 1870 Elizabeth is listed in the Alcorn County census as living with Daniel Lewallen. Believe Elizabeth died in Alcorn County Mississippi in the early 1870's.
