Hello, Please help me find information regarding the parents of my 2nd great grandfather - Willis Williford GRAHAM (1807-1879), who m. Amanda Wales CLARK in Limestone County, AL on 19 January 1835. Early census records indicate that he was born in SC but there is a remote possibility that he may have come from VA. Willis and Amanda moved to Alcorn, or Old Tishomingo County, MS, near Corinth, about 1842, and raised a family of 5 boys and 2 girls (Justin, Marion, Willis Madison, Thomas Benton, Jefferson, John and Joan). Three of the boys served together in the 26th MS Re giment, Company F, and survived to return to Clay County, MS, where Willis, (widowed in 1868) purchased a plantation. The three brothers helped their aging father on the plantation, while a 4th son, the youngest, remained in Clarke County, AL, after serving w ith the 36th AL Regiment. I would appreciate any information you could provide. Thank you. Larry N. Graham Orlando, FL |

I am trying to locate any information on a possible photographer that may have worked in the Corinth area in the mid to late 1800's. All I have is the last name which is at the bottom of an old photo that I have. It just says BEATY in the lower left and CORI NTH, MISS in the lower right. I am guessing that Beaty had a studio in Corinth at one time. I am tring to see if I can identify the man and woman in the photo. I think they may be my 2nd great grandparents. |

I am looking for information about the parents and siblings of Lamenda Adeline McGLOTHIN. In the 1880 census for Alcorn County, Mary A. McGLOTHLIN (age 37), Adeline McGLOTHLIN (age 14), and Mary B. McGLOTHLIN (age 5), are living as boarders in the home of William EASLEY. Lamenda died in Texas in 1937, and her obituary stated that she was surv ived by a sister, Nora McGLOTHIN, of Mississippi. Also, one of the pallbearers was a Bill McGLOTHIN. Lamenda was born in Mississippi in May of either 1864, 1866 or 1867. She married Albert EASLEY in Alcorn County, MS on October 9, 1883. They had a daughter, Pairlee EASLEY, born in February 1889. On April 18, 1893, also in Alcorn County, Lamenda married John Richard FENDLEY. They had five children, all born in Mississippi: William Richard, Mary Samantha, Elmer Rosie, Alma Bertha and Ollie. Sometime between 1905 and 1910, the family moved to Lamar County, Texas. I have hit a brick wall with Lamenda, my gr-gr-grandmother, and would appreciate any help. Thanks. |
