BROOKS

Looking for any information on the line of Daniel Webster BROOKS, Sr. (known as Webster). Divorced 1950. Married Hilda Lois BREWER of Quitman. I can't even find him in death index and I was only five-years-old, so my memory is weak. I know Webster had at least two sisters: Esther (m. Hurbert MARCUM), and Mae (m. Raymond GUNN). There may be more sisters. To Webster and Hilda, one son was born, Daniel Webster BROOKS, Jr.(ME!) I do know he moved to LA and died there in a car crash around 1955. That's about all know about My father's family, but as I go looking little things keep popping up in my memory. Any help out there? Would be glad to help in any way I can.

RIDDLESPURGER

Thomas RIDDLESPURGER was said to have been murdered in Lauderdale Co., sometime between 1871 and 1876. I visited there once and found nothing in their newspapers. Would there be any records on the murder in MS? Any suggestions for adjoining county newspapers that may have contained an article on the murder? It was rumored he was murdered by a Mr. Cohen/Cohan.

MILLER

My wife's grandfather, William Henry MILLER, was the son of a couple who, according to family stories, were Indians. These MILLERs and their two sons (William being one) supposedly came to MS to teach. We don't know their tribe or from where they came (Oklahoma is mentioned). We do know that William married Annie M. GOFORTH of Newton County and that Thelma MILLER, my late mother-in-law, was born in Lauderdale County. My thought was that it might help to identify schools of the mid to late 19th century in Lauderdale and Newton Counties where the teachers might have been employed and then see if I can find records.
