HOBGOOD, HOPGOOD, OLDHAM posted by Martha Fowlkes on Monday, March 3, 1997

I am looking for a Gt.grandfather Henry H. HOPGOOD, HOBGOOD. I believe that he belongs to the HOPGOOD, HOBGOOD Family from Lauderdale MS. He is with this family in 1850 in Anscon Co., NC. I cannot find them in the l860 census, but think that they were in MS. He came to Mo and married Eliza OLDHAM. They moved to Ala. or MS and she died. He asked Mo family to come get the four children and was never heard of again. This would have been somewhere around 1885. I have looked for years and really need some help. Charles Henson HOBGOOD/ HOPGOOD of Lauderdale,Ms, I think is his father

BUSTIN, COATS, EASON posted by Kay Parker McCary on Friday, March 21, 1997

BUSTIN: Would someone who lives in Lauderdale Co. be willing to go to Salem Baptist Church cemetery and look up a marker to be sure the transcription of a name & dates to the cemetery record book I looked at is correct? My gg grandmother was Amanda Elizabeth BUSTIN b Oct 2, 1845 d Jul 6, 1888. She married William Washington COATS May 1, 1867 in Lauderdale Co. My great grandfather William Pollock COATS was born in 1868 in Lauderdale Co. On the 1870 census, Amanda & William were living with her parents James & Elizabeth. We had always been told that Amanda died & William was raised by James & Elizabeth. But this tombstone says otherwise and even says she married an EASON (This may really be BUSTIN, the lettering is so similar I think it just may have been hard to read.) So I really would appreciate it if someone had the time to take a look. Thanks so much. Kay Parker McCary, Milam, Sabine County, Texas
