- CROOK, HALL, JONES, RICHTER, STUCKEY, WILLIAMS posted by Bob Crook on Saturday, April 12, 1997
- CROOK & WILLIAMS...My great-grandfather was
Lewis Edmund CROOK, the first cpa in the State of Mississippi,
who lived in Meridian from approximately 1887 until his death in
1931. He was also president of the Meridian Rotary Club and
participated in the stage productions and musicals in the early
1910's. One of his sons (my grandfather) was Robert Hall CROOK,
also a cpa, whose office was in the Threefoot Building. He was
married to Agnes STUCKEY in 1920. I am seeking information on
another great-great-grandfather of mine, Samuel S. WILLIAMS, who
was born in GA in 1836 and died in Meridian in 1921. He was
married to Frances RICHTER in 1866 and came to Meridian shortly
after. They had three girls...Anne Eliza (1868- ) who married
Robert A. HALL; Mary Elingus ("Ellie") who married L.
E. CROOK; and, Frances RICHTER ("Fannie") who married
William Newton JONES. SS Williams was engaged in manufacturing
with a Mr. Golden. Samuel Williams was with the 46th Mississippi
Infantry Regiment during our War for Southern Independence. Is
there anyone who knows more about his service as a RR engineer
for the M&O Railroad during the War?
