Luther Ellis Chatham
Born: July 18, 1887 in Lauderdale County, MS Died: January 17, 1962 in Lauderdale County, MS Luther Ellis Chatham, of Rt. 7, Meridian, died this morning at 5 o’clock in a Meridian hospital at the age of 74. A retired farmer, Mr. Chatham is survived by his wife; Ethel Suttles Chatham; four sons, W.T. E.J. Roy, and the Rev. W.L. Chatham, all of Meridian; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mellie Haguewood of Meridian; one brother, Ed Chatham of Meridian; two half sisters; Mrs. Cenie Gillis of Brooklyn and Mrs. Sibbie Reece of Meridian; and a half brother, Melvin Chatham of Jackson. The body is at Webb Funeral Home and the services have been set for 11 o’clock at the Center Grove Baptist Church where the deceased was a member. Officiants will be the Revs. C.G. Berry, N.H. Smith, E.L. Ray, H.V. Sollie, and Leland Goodman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers: Jimmy and Reed Haguewood, Gerald and James Robinson, Harve and H.E. Chatham. |
