Funeral services for Joe L. Pickett, who was killed Tuesday at 9 pm by Pearl River Officers near Poplarville, MS, will be held Friday at 2:30 pm from Pleasant Hill Methodist Church in the Zero Community. Rev. H.M. Sollie and G.E. Holsomback will be officiating, and interment to follow in the church cemetery. Survivors are his wife; Mrs. Sadie Bunyard Pickett; one daughter; Miss Jo Ruth Pickett; one son; DeLeon Pickett; his mother; Mrs. Caledonia Fisher Pickett; one sister, Mrs. Florence Pickett Harper; four brothers; Ben Pickett and his wife Eula Keene Pickett, Robert Elbert Pickett and his wife Winnie Brown Pickett, Clyde and Mark Pickett, all of the Zero Community; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Lawson Pickett Sr. Pallbearers: G.L. Walker, C.L. Molpus, Wyatt Chancellor, A.L. Pickard, Raymond Fountain and Earl Moody. Honorary: B.L. Chapman, C.B. Dearman, John Robertson, Earl Dawes, J.A. Walker, and Jim Daniels.
