    Joel Andrew Smith, aged 62, of Meridian, RT. #3, was stricken with an acute heart attack Saturday at 8 a.m. on A Street and 24th Avenue and died a few minutes later.
    He was taken to a local hospital by the Ambulance Service Company and died soon after reaching the hospital.

    Funeral services for Joel Andrew Smith, aged 62, whose death suddenly occurred Saturday, will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the New Hope Baptist Church.

    The Revs. W.B. Abel, pastor of Popular Springs Baptist Church, C.E. Griffin, R.W. Sumrall, and W.L. Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Helen Naomi Coleman Smith, three daughters; Mesdames Arthur L. Harrell, Ethel Harrell, Quitman; G.A. Foreman, Meridian; two sons, James Curtis Smith, Meridian; and Jothell Smith, Meridian; one sister, Mrs. Dempsey Herrod, Petal, Ms.; one brother, Wiley Johnson Smith, Edinburgh, Ms. Active Pallbearers: L.O. Bynum, Robert Pickett, Henry Weathers, Luther Walker, W.M. Griffin, Mary Bynum, Marvin Pickard, Hunter Culpepper, Reece Harris, Lee Walker. Honorary: W.L. Brunson, Leland Lyle, Willis Taylor, Ross Bounds, Bill Rush Mosby, J.M. Cameron, J.D. Howerton, M.L. Ross, R.M. Langford, W.P. Shannon, W.C. Norris, Mayor Clint Vinson, Charles May, John P.
