Joan Buchanan West

BUCHANAN/ROBINSON
Looking for anscestors of Robert Washington Buchanan and wife Belle Zora Robinson. Married in Tishomingo County in 1888 (he was married before
to Frances Oaks WILLIAMS in 1854 in Jacinto)(have her information).
Belle Zora's parents were John Robinson and Mary Ann SANFORD. She had a
brother George Allen Robinson (not real sure if he lived in Tishomingo)
but her sister Annie Robinson MCNATT and husband Tom as well as son
Arlie McNatt lived around Jackson Camp, I believe. They came their from
Russelville, AL. John and Mary Robinson were married in Cedartown, Polk
County, GA. My grandmother's full name was Mary Virginia Belle Zora
Ellen Catherine Robinson. I do not know if my grandfather, Robert
Washington Buchanan had any brothers or sisters or his parents names.
He was born "near Talladega, AL" in 1833 and was living with James Riley
Buchanan in Tishomingo County according to the 1850 census. James Riley
Buchanan moved to Mena, Polk County, Arkansas between 1850 and 1855 and
died there. I have all his anscestors and feel there is a connection
with R.W. Buchanan but have not found it yet. James Riley Buchanan was
from Blount County, AL and his father was William Marion Gray Buchanan
and his mother was Susannah FLETCHER who married in Madison County, AL
in 1819 going on to Blount County. James Riley Buchanan and Rebecca
Nichols married in Tishomingo in 1845 and I have wondered if Robert
Washington Buchanan was there in 1845? So many questions, so few
answers. Maybe some of this will help someone along the way.
Thank you for time and energy and any help you might send !!!!!
Joan

RICHARDSON/RICHERSON
I am seeking any information available on the Oliver B and Sara Jane
Duke RICHARDSON/RICHERSON family who moved, according to a family
obituary, to the Blackland area of Tishomingo Co in the 1880s. They
traveled from Macon Co, TN. The Blackland Methodist Church is
mentioned. I need to find the records of death and burial for Oliver B
and son Jesse C who died in 1892 and are presumed buried in the area.
Are records for this church available? How would I access them? ANY
information you might share with me would be most appreciated. The
remaining family members relocated to Robertson County, TX. I would be
very willing to share Texas information regarding this family if they
connect with yours.

CONAWAY/CONNIWAY/CONWAY/
BATTLE/OWENS
I am trying to either prove or disprove a link between William
CONAWAY/CONWAY of Tishimingo/Alcorn/Chickasaw Co., MS, and my
gggrandmother, Elizabeth Jane Dial, of Wayne/Lawrence Co., TN. William
was the son of Richard CONAWAY/CONNIWAY/CONWAY etc. who married Sevilla
BATTLE and settled in Monroe Co., MS. We know William married Elizabeth
OWEN about 1840-42 but, if he is the William P. CONAWAY/CONWAY who Dr.
Hezekiah Smithson says married gggrandmother Elizabeth Dial about
1833-36 then, he is my gggrandfather. The story of their brief marriage
will explain why we're having so much trouble either linking or letting
go of this William P. As the story goes William was in Wayne County, TN
for some reason and fell in love/lust with Elizabeth, daughter of James
Dial. They were married (I can find no record in TN or MS) and she left
TN with him to live in MS (no mention of where but it wouldn't logically
be too far judging by the rest of the story). While living in the
CONAWAY/CONWAY household, said to be a wealthy, landed gentry type home,
Elizabeth was treated more as a servant than a family member and was the
subject of considerable derision as her accent was severely country
tennessee and her manner of dress was very country also. It is said
that she, after the birth of my ggrandfather, Patrick CONWAY, and with
another baby on the way, gave William an ultimatum to either stand up
against his family in her behalf or send her back home to Wayne Co.
According to family history he did not stand up to the family but,
instead, either a) saddled a mule for her and baby Patrick and pointed
the way to TN or b) she took a mule and baby Patrick and pointed herself
back to TN. Either way, she returned to Wayne Co. where she eventually
married Willis GREEN. The baby she was expecting was Beryl CONWAY and
was stillborn as a result of the rigors of her journey. ggrandfather
was raised as one of Willis' own and all were forbidden by Willis to
ever mention the name of that "s-- of a b----, Bill CONAWAY again". The
William P. CONAWAY who shows up in the censuses of Tishomingo, Monroe
and Chickasaw Co's of MS is the only William P. CONAWAY I have ever been
able to find who in any way fits the time period of this occurence. If
you think you may have information of this situation please let me know.
I kind of dead end on William and am having a rough go getting past this
old boy. Please visit my homepage at

HARRIS
I am trying to identify the parents of my great grandfather ,Henry Sidney Harris. I find Henry Sidney Harris in the 1860 Census located in Burnsville with his wife Margaret Smith. He is listed as 26, however his tombstone list his birth as Jan 22 1832. His birth place is listed as Alabama, however later census records list his birth place as MS. He married Margeret Jane Smith 9 Nov 1854 in Tishomingo. In 1870 they were living in Booneville and later went to TX. I have not been able to locate him in 1850. He would have been 18 and may have been living with his parents. He may be the son of James Harris an early settler in that area. Family legend says that we were related to the Boone family. Any suggestion you could provide for future research would be greatly appreciated.
P.S, I have pictures of Henry and Jane that I would share. I can scan them.
