I am trying to find an obituary for a Dr Charles Ryan who died Oct 07, 1902. I know he is buried in Frienship Cemetary. Now according to an article on Dr Ryan I know he owned 345 acres in Prentiss County an 100 of which was cultivated. He practiced medicine in Itawamba and Prentiss county from 1853 until 1859 when he entered Memphis Medical College. After graduating he relocated to Bay Springs Tishomingo County for one year then moved to a farm three miles east of Elma. That is the last location I have on him. Now I know he practiced in a large area so I am not sure where he actually died. I have checked with Lee County Library and they looked in the Tupelo Journal and I have checked with the Itawamba County Times and Library and they have no records back that far. I am currently waiting for a reply from the Independent- Banner on weather or not they have it. I am trying to connect him with a William Richard Ryan 1817- 1902 who is my GGGrandfather. If anyone knows of Dr. Ryan siblings please contact me. Thank you in advance. |
