I would like to find out all I can about Peter Lankford and his family. Peter is listed in the 1850 Tishomingo census along with his wife Jincy Lankford and several of his Children, in the 1860 census Jincy and the Children are listed so I guess that Peter died in between that time. I can't find when he died or where he is buried. His wife, Jincy moved to Navorro County Texas, and is Buried there. Thank you for any info. |

Attention all HODGES. It's a wild hunch but I'm trying to track down a marriage between Joseph H. HODGES from McNairy Co. TN, and a Sarah of unknown surname. Are there any good marriage indexs for Tishomingo Co, or Mississippi as a whole. Joseph HODGES must have married Sarah c. 1835, as I think their first child was born in 1838 in McNairy Co.. Nothing comes up for their marriage in Tennessee, so this is my next step. All HODGES out there, and other folks too, please write and help me with this puzzle. Thanks, Doyle at dobuhler@du.edu |

My Mother and I have been searching for any and all information regarding "Henry Middleton? Shurbet." H.M.S. resided in Prentiss, Old Tishomingo County and enlisted in the confederacy in 1862 in 19th Infantry, CO-K. We have copies of documents that show this but we are unable to find much else. On his military papers his name was usually spelled "Sherbit", however, there are different spellings as I'm sure you know. He served at Richmond VA, at Chimbrazo Hospital as a Guard, and later in Columbus, and return to Prentiss at the close of the Civil War. H.M.S. was born 1814 in SC, and died and is buried in Prentiss in 1892. He was my G-G-G Grandfather. His Son, to whom I descend, was Zadus Brister Shurbet. O ne Genealogist suggests that he was a spy for the Confederacy, and suggests that that is the reason we are unable to find much information. If you can be of any assistance, Mom and I would sure appreciate your help. Your Heritage Friend, Larry |
