My gggreatgrandfather was Jesse H. Redwine. He was mustered into state militia by Major Davis at Iuka on Sept. 7, 1861 and enlisted in CSA Army at Iuka by a Major Hewitt on Sept. 19, 1861. He was connected with Dave Rogers Rifles, Company G, 1st Regiment, Mis sissippi Infantry. He died on March 5, 1862. I don't know where or how he died. Does anyone have any information on this unit? I would also like to find a copy of the roster for this unit. Trying to tie up loose ends on my family history and would appreciate any help.

Searching for death and/or burial information on Deborah YOUNG (married name). She was listed in 1850 Tishomingo Census living with Josiah WATTS family. She was 90 years old at the time. She died between 1850 and 1860. We cannot find any record of her dea th or burial. A George YOUNG was the bondsman for the marriage of one of Josiah's sons, James WATTS to Jane HOLLEY. In the book " Some Decendents of John Counts of Glade Hollow" Henry Dickerson Long lived in Tishomingo County. He owned a large plantation with property valued at 35,000.00. He had a large amount of slaves and lost most of his wealth in the Civil War. They are suppose to be buried on the plantation in Tishomingo County. I hope someone has a book of the history of the county or some knowledge of this plantation. I would appreciate any information anyone has about this family. Thanks in advance,

I am searching for information on William Tolleson and his wife, Mary. They are two of my Great Great Great Grandparents. I am also searching for information on Robert Newton Davis and his wife, Emily Sue Gibson.
Tolleson, William: Born in South Carolina about 1787. Moved first to Tennessee (about 1815) -- shown to be in Tennessee in 1815 with his brother, David, who later moved to Lawrence County, Alabama with him. Then moved to Lawrence County, Alabama (listed in the 1830 and 1840 Census). Then moved to Tishomingo County, Mississippi (listed in the 1850 Census as family 776 or 777 where he is shown living with his wife, Mary, one son, Jesse, and two daughters, Clarissa and Nancy). Died between 1850 and 1860.
His wife, Mary ?(last name not known at this time) is believed to have been born in Virginia about 1796. She died between 1850 and 1860 in Tishomingo County, Mississippi.
The William Tolleson that I'm searching is believed to have had a total of five children: Clarissa (b: 1822), Hebron (b: 1823), Tilghman -- my Great Great Grandfather (b: 1826), Jesse (b: 1827), and Nancy (b: 1832).
Tilghman Tolleson was born in Lawrence County, Alabama about 1826, and moved with his parents and family to Tishomingo County, Mississippi (listed as family 776 or 777 in the 1850 Census along with Tilghman's wife, ?(first name not known at this time) Hawkins -Lockhart, two sons and one daughter). Later moved to Independence County, Arkansas, died between 1860 and 1870, and is buried in Independence County, Arkansas. Tilghman had 8 children that we know of: James Monroe (b: 1846), Persilla (b: 1848), Virgil Add ison -- my Great Grandfather (b: 26 Dec 1849), Adele V. (b: 1852), Marshall Hume (b: 1854), Alfred (b: 1855), Althea C. (b: 1856), and Lawrence (b: 20 Apr 1859).
Virgil Addison Tolleson was born in Tishomingo County Mississippi 26 Dec 1849. He moved to Independence County, Arkansas, and is listed there in the 1860 Census along with his father, Tilghman Tolleson, and mother, ? Hawkins-Lockhart, and several brothers an d sisters. Virgil Addison Tolleson married Laura Alice Miller (b: Sep 1851 in Hickory, Lancaster County, South Carolina). Virgil and Laura moved to Sweet Home, LaVaca County, Texas where they had 10 children: Mary Lula (b: 12 Aug 1871 and died 18 Sep 1871 as an infant), Ellen Lockhart (b: 4 Nov 1874), Minnie Louise (b: 23 May 1877), William (b: Nov 1879), Stevens Monroe (b: 31 Aug 1882), Louetta (b: 12 Sep 1883), Elisabeth (b: 2 Apr 1885), Ruthie C. (b: 29 Aug 1887), Rebecca Alice (b: 10 Mar 1889), and Virgil Minerva -- my Grandmother (b: 15 Jul 1891). Virgil Addison Tolleson was killed in a fight at a cotton gin on 17 Aug 1906. Virgil is buried in Osage Community Cemetery near Borden, Colorado County, Texas. As a fo! otnote, his son, Stevens Monroe Tolleson, was in the fight at the cotton gin as well -- he killed the two men who had killed his father -- and had to leave LaVaca County to avoid further trobule. Stevens Monroe and his wife, Myrtle Baker, moved to Brady, McC ollough County, Texas in 1906 (where their two children were born) and later to Matagorda County, Texas where Stevens Monroe died 3 Feb 1937.
Virgil Minerva Tolleson was born 15 Jul 1891 in Sweet Home, LaVaca County, Texas. She married Charlie Thomas Davis (b: 31 Jul 1886 in Milam County, Texas). They settled in Matagorda County, Texas where their 10 children were born: Emily Alice (b: 19 Aug 19 12), Irma Catherine (b: 22 Feb 1914), Ralph Stewart (b: 28 Mar 1916), Morton Keefer -- my father (b: 19 Dec 1919), Noriene (b: 1 Jun 1921), Sophie Wanda (b: 29 Sep 1923), Thomas Emory (b: 22 Oct 1925), Hilma Gladys (b: 20 Dec 1927), Marguerite Lovella (b: 10 April 1930), and Bobbie Jean (b: 8 Oct 1932).
The Davises trace back through Mississippi as well to Robert Newton Davis who was born 6 Mar 1854 in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama. Robert Newton married Emily Sue Gibson (b: 19 Dec 1859 in Pickens County, Alabama). Robert and Emily moved first to Mis sissippi (county not known at this time) where their first child, Anna Belle, was born on 5 Dec 1879.

I believe that the Joseph SMART family moved to Tippah County about 1846. It is possible but not proven that one of there son's, Thomas SMART married one of William NORWOOD's daughters, Mary NORWOOD about 1846.
