I'm looking for any information on Solomon and Elizabeth Woodward who moved to Tishomongo Co. from Wayne Co., TN after 1840. Solomon died in 1844 according to the on-line Baker Probate records. There are other references in the probate records to Solomon but I have not seen them yet. Elizabeth also died before 1850 but I don't know when or where. Does anyone connect with my line? |

My ancestors Young Short and his wife Rhoda lived and died in Tishomingo County. I thought that Rhoda's maiden name was Barker but have now obtained a death certificate for one of this couple's children and it looks like the name of the mother is Rhoda Barber. They were in McNairy Co., TN before settling in Old Tish. Co., MS. Arthur T. I have been trying to find the exact date of death of Peter Helton for quite some time. The last record I have of him is in the 1860 Tish. Co. Census. He lived in the Cario/Holcut area and was born in 1822 in East TN, His Father-in-law was Fleming McCoy, his wife's name was Thursey McCoy. I am researching the family of James (H?) Cooper b.1798, his sons John Lee, b. 1829 ( married Margaret Youngblood) and William Cooper b.1820 ( Married Mirilla Youngblood). These folks first appear in Tishomingo in 1837 and disappear in after 1846, the yr that Wm and Marilla married. Does anyone have info on the siblings/ parents of this family? In the 1850 census of Tishomingo Co Ms I found a BARBARY HAZLE, and HENRY HAZEL, and need help in identifying these names. I know our OLIVER PAUL HAZEL line was in Lee County, Ms in 1870,I do not have him connected to parents. I have not seen the original census, and do not know who else was on these census. I am searching for the death and burial location of Mercer Montgomery Booker, son of John Edward Booker and Martha "Patsy" Taylor. Mercer came to Tishomingo County sometimes in the 1800's. He had three sons: Richard Wert Booker, James Monroe Booker, and Edward Montgomery Booker. Mercer was married to Elizabeth Caroline Kirk and probably lived somewhere in the Eastport Area according to what my father Lawrence Pete Booker told me. One source of information I had was that Mercer died in Washington County Texas, but no cemetery records have been found in Washington County to prove this. I beleive that the information I had was a misprint and I am now pretty well convinced that Mercer was buried somewhere in Mississippi, probably in Tishomingo County. Any information concerning these events would be appreciated. |

She born in Tishomingo on Oct 15, 1858, moved to Liberty Hill, Texas around 1860. This was verified by a news story in Austin-American Statesman which she was 91 so that would be around 1950.
