I am looking for any information on the LEDGEWOODS of Iuka, Tishomingo, MS. One couple would be Leo and Ruby Ledgewood. Leo was married to Ruby but he died in 1939 and Ruby remarried Herbert Carson. I know there were other family members that lived in Iuka also. Sure would appreciate any help and willing to share what I have. Also looking for info on the family of Ruby, surname BONDS. Ruby was born in 1900. |

I was looking for confirmation of John Bailey and Mary Jane (Odum?)and kids. I found them in Tishomingo 1880 census with their neighbors the McClung's. Joseph McClung and Mary Bailey married in Lehigh Co OK abt 15 years later. Then I went to 1870 census and not only did I find John and Jane, but John's father Henry age 82 with his servant. I need to know if Henry died in Tishomingo, was he buried there, and if there is a death record on him. If I have that info I should be able to locate place of birth. According to census he and John are from TN. Can anyone help me? |

Looking for informationon a William Newton Wallace and wife Sally Sewell. Just recently learned they may be the parents of my Gr-Grandfather Andrew Jackson Wallace who was born 1833 in Jacinto, Tishmingo Co., MS. AJW was in Henderson Co., TN for the 1850 census living with a Mackey family. He was married there to Sarah (Sallie) Messer in 1849 and his 2nd wife was Frances Caroline Wilson, daughter of Wm. Craven Wilson and Frances Caroline Gilliam Reneau. AJW had at least one brother Eli who also was in Henderson Co. in 1850. Census recs show AJW's parents were born in NC. |

HOWARD, Looking for historical information about my grandparents, Dr. S.F. Howard, and his wife, Florence Penn Howard. They were the Principal/Superintendent/Teaching staff at the Iuka school from apx 1905-1030-something. She died in a tragic Christmas Day fire.. My Father, Francis Howard was raised in Iuka until he went to college in 1922. His first cousin was his best friend, Robert Penn Moss --who married Dena Northcross after college at Southwestern at Memphis. |

I am searching for information on a Josiah Marion Lassiter, born 1740-1758 (thats as close as we can get) who family history records as dying in Tishomingo County MS around 1819-1821. I know that is before there was a Tishomingo County, so am not sure of the accuracy of the data. His wife was Mary Russell, only known son was John. They were originally from Gates County NC. Looking for info on William Jasper BROWN, b. Jan. 9, 1860 Tishomingo, MS and d. 1931 Wilson, OK. His father was James Stanford BROWN, b. 1818 TN, d. 1914 in Maud, AL. Mother was Unknown HODGE. Wm moved to TX as a young man and married Sarah Margaret "Maggie" Snelson in Gainesville, TX in 1884. They later moved to Oklahoma. James Stanford BROWN stayed in the Tishomingo area for a while and lived his later years in Maud, AL. First wife was Wm's mother, Unknown HODGE. When she died, he remarried to Jane HUNT. Seeking information of Richard Brown listed in the 1860 Bay Springs, Tishomingo Co. census. He was listed with wife Mary, daughter Nancy, & son Pinkney. Living in the same household was Elizabeth Brown age 21 and William Brown age 19. I assume these were a sister and brother since Richard was listed as 28. I'm seeking information about my Rutledge ancestors. My great-great grandfather was J. J. Rutledge and his wife was Nancy W. Rutledge. Their son, Richard T. Rutledge, was my grandfather. His daughter, Mattie Quay Rutledge Moser, was my mother. Does anyone have knowledge of these people? Does anyone know where Hepseba Cemetary is located? John M Hudson was the son of Zadock and Millie Hudson from Tippah county,Miss. He was burried in Campground cemetery ,close to the town of IUKA in Tishomingo county. He died June 4,1914 at 89 yrs old. His wife was Rebecca Jane Barnes Hudson born 1838 in Tenn. I am seeking her death date and if she is burried there also? I am looking for clues for John Daniel, born around 1801-1803 in Tenn per the 1850 and 1860 US Census. His wife was Mary ? born around 1805-1810 in either SC or GA. I have gathered information on John Daniel back to 1850, but that is where the trail goes cold. I know John moved to Alabama around 1930, moved to in Itawamba Co., Miss between 1842 and 1844, is shown there on the 1850 US Census, and on the 1853 Miss Census, and to Tishomingo Co., Miss by 1860. James and Henry Daniel (John's son (James Hamilton Daniel) and grandson (James Henry Daniel) ended up in Lee Co., Miss (Lee Co. was formed from Itawaba in 1866). John had 8 children on the 1850 US Census, and 4 children on the 1860 US Census. Six of the children were born in Alabama before 1844. I have found/been given significant information on James' sister Amanda Daniel Clark. John' son is James Hamilton Daniel. Henry had three brothers (Elmer, b. 1880, d.1887;Cliton, b. 1883, d. 1953; William, b. 1873, d. 1878) and two s! isters (Mary B. b 1875, d 1923; Orah, b. 1885, d 1910). Thanks, Dan Goodin |
