I am interested in sharing information with others on these two families, who lived in Old Tishimingo County (now Prentiss County). WILLIAM CARROLL and his wife LUCINDA CRINER had 11 children: SALLIE BETTIE BLYTHE, SUSAN BLYTHE (b. 1824), JOSEPHINE J. BLYTHE (b.1836), GEORGE M. (b. 1838), ELIJAH ELLIS (b. 1843), married Martha Callidonia Young (b. 1846), MARTHA JANE (b, 1845), MARY FRANCES (b. 1847); SARAH ELIZABETH (b. 1849, married George Washington Collins); HEDONIA C. P. (b. 1852), EMMA C. (b. 1856, married Joseph Edmund Young, Jr.), and JOHN A. (b. 1860). Joseph Edmund Young, Jr. and Martha Calladonia Young were brother and sister. Their parents were JOSEPH EDMUND YOUNG, SR. and MATILDA HALE BELL. They married brother and sister, ELIJAH ELLIS and EMMA C. BLYTHE. Thus their children were double first cousins. The other children of JOSEPH and MATILDA were MARGARET JOSEPHINE (b. 1842), MISSOURI ANN (b. 1844) and FREDONIA LULA (b. 1860). MISSOURI ANN's line is that of the! former mayor of Booneville, Marion Smith. I don't have much information on the lines of MARGARET JOSEPHINE and FREDONIA LULA. Any information you can provide on either of these lines would be appreciated. |

William Christmas Herridge and his brother Tillman T. were living in Tishomingo Co. before William moved to Texas after his first wife (Nancy MAhalia Watson) died in 1862. Does anyone know the names of other relatives going back? My family records say parents of William and Tillman were William Tillman Herridge and Nancy Foster - and that's all folks. Any other clues out there? |

Jemima Burgess was born 1808 in either Tishomingo Co., MS. or in TN. She married Jacob Wilson on 12 Mar. 1832 in TN. In a few years, Jacob and Jemima with their children came to Tishomingo Co., MS. Did they return to her family? Have documentation on the affidavit of their grandson for Indian Claim, that she was part Cherokee. Was she perhaps a Chickasaw instead? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Have looked for Jemima for over 45 years and she is still a shadow in the trees. Jo Wilson |

I am following a possible hunch to perhaps find the married and maiden name of my ancestor's second wife. William Dickey married Milly in MS around 1850/1851. I do not have marriage records, but do have land records with her listed as his wife. She had either 3 or 4 children when they married. Two homes up from William Dickey (living w/son - as a widower) on the 1850 census is a Milly Rogers widow with four children. The names of her children and the children William and Milly have match a William Davis and wife Abby living next to Milly Rogers. Does anyone have any information on these families. |

All these years I have been looking for Neshoby. Tenn.or Neshoby Landing. My Civil War soldier died and his body was left on 15 March 1862 in a small town or landing on the Tennessee River. Someone suggested the town may have been Neshoba, Tishomingo County, MS. They sent an 1860 map and it is located near the section where the three states meet, on the Tennessee River. The old script makes reading difficult. He was on the ship The City of Alton. If anyone knows of any cemeteries where a Union soldier from the 40th Reg. Illinois might have been buried please e-mail me at apinter_2000@hotmail.com His name was George W. Harl/Hearl Thanks, Anna |
