History of Tishomingo Co MI There is a book on the history of Tishomingo Co - exact title, date of publication, author unknown by me. It contains information on early settlers in the county... supposedly contains the genealogy of many of my Barnett ancestors - John William Barnett who married Nancy Simmons - originally from Giles Co Tn and to Tishomingo Co by 1857. May also contain information on surname James.. William R James married Elizabeth Simmons Barnett (dau of J.W. and Nancy Barnett) Any ideas on where to find a copy of this book will be appreciated - interlibrary loan, purchase, etc. Is there a historical society in the county who would perhaps know. Thanks for any help or information.

Need family information for updating the history of the Paden family in Tishomingo County, for the proposed 2009 publication of the updated "The Pedens Of America". I am representing the House of William Peden/Paden, whose descendents left Spartanburg Co, SC in 1833, to Hardenman/Fayette Co., Tn. for a few years, then to Tishomingo County, Ms, establishing Bethany Presbyterian Church. Paden descendents are mostly from this house, but also descended through David Paden, son of Samuel Peden(brother to the above William),whose other descendents settled in Kemper Co., MS. The updating of this book was approved at the annual Peden/Paden Reunion at Fairview, SC. Interested in inviting and providing information to Paden descendents to attend the Annual Paden/Peden reunion in Fairviw,SC on the 3rd Sunday of July, every year. It is a weekend event including tours and family programs. Fairview Presbyterian Church is located on and adjacent to the first Peden settlement for this family after their arrival from County Antrim, Ireland in the 1700's. Tishomingo County Peden/Paden descendents can walk in the same footsteps of their 4th, 5th, and 6th greatgrandparents, visit their graves, and experience their fight for America's Independence. Much sharing of family history in Scotland, Ireland, and America. Peden/Paden descendents are great cousins who enjoy meeting other descendents and bringing them into their extended family, to share in their proud ancestry. Fairview Church even has a museum of family history items. In nearby Chester Co., SC are cemeterys of Peden/Paden associated families with much history and Revolutionary era ch! urches and sites intact. A half brother John Jesse Nunley marries Nancy Sitton. There is a John Nunley that first comes to settle in Tishomingo county in 1837, from what I can peice together but no proof, believe this to be possibly an Uncle to them. But no proof of that or him being the father as his children are in the census and they are not encluded. The 1850 census would maybe have them with parents but have yet to be able to find them. Is good possiblity they were orphaned at a young age and living with other relatives. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Need information for the updated "The Pedens of America" book to be ready in 2009. Tishomingo county Paden/Peden family information is needed. Paden family members may know of the large book that was last updated in 1961. This family is decended from the immigrants John and Margaret McDill Peden who settled in South Carolina. Most of the Padens in Tishomingo County are decended from John and Margaret's son,William Peden, who married Mary Archer. His children and Paden relatives established Bethany Presbyterian Church outside the town of Tishomingo. The town of Paden is named after a son of William's. I was assigned the update of the House of William at the Annual Peden Reunion in Greenville County, SC. Fairview Presbyterian Church is the home of the Peden Reunion, museum, cemetary, and holds the copyright to the book, whose proceeds go only to the operations of the Peden family preservation. I am originally from Tishomingo County, the 3rd great grandaughter of Dan and! Catherine McCalla Paden who are buried at Bethany. Dan's siblings were: Robert W Paden m) Elizabeth McCalla, Margaret Paden m) David S. Peden, Isabelle Peden m) Thomas Peden, Alexander Paden m) Sarah McCalla, and Mary Paden m) George Tankersley. Note: The Pedens that came to Mississippi changed the spelling of Peden to Paden. I would appreciate any communication from Paden decendents and hope to gather more of the Tishomingo County folks to the annual reunion in SC as well to the annual decoration day at Bethany next year.
