Washington, North Carolina" by Louis Van Camp
"Washington, North Carolina," a new pictorial history of Washington, and
portions of Beaufort County, will be available in area bookstores in late
April. This 128 page, 235 picture book is being published by Arcadia
Publishing as part of their "Images of America" series representing small
historic American cities. The price is $18.99. "Local writer and
photographer Louis Van Camp has compiled an enchanting visual history, in
both word and image, that celebrates the beauty and traditions of this
charming city," said Arcadia editor Mark Berry. "Washington, North
Carolina will surely be a treasure to all readers familiar with this
historic city and will provide future generations a rare glimpse into the
past of their ancestors," concludes Berry.
Sally Love, owner of Sunflower Book Store in Washington reviewed the
proofs last month and said: "This limited edition history book will
definitely be a best seller throughout Beaufort County." Sunflower Books
is planing a book signing for the 27th and 28th of April from 1 PM to 3
PM each of those days.
A sequel book called "Beaufort County Friends and Neighbors" in the works
now. Louis Van Camp, a writer/photographer who resides in Washington,NC
is working on pictorial history books of Beaufort and Chowan counties.
Genealogy portraits, and pictures of family activities or business
activities - such as retail, farming, lumber, shipping etc.,
and family participation in activities such as: sports, fairs, parades,
swimming, dances, parties etc.
-- dating from the late 1800's through the year 2000 are needed to
complete his books.
