Cataloochee Pictures

On a recent trip to Haywood County, we visited Cataloochee, which is part of the Smoky Mountain National Park.  Cataloochee was a mountain community that began in 18xx.  During the Great Depression, the United States Government bought the land, buildings and such from the people of Cataloochee.  A visit to Cataloochee today shows remnants of the once thriving community.  Only a few buildings and structures remain, but it is a legacy to those who settled and lived in this beautiful area.

Here are a few pictures of Cataloochee.  They do little justice to the place, but hopefully will give you an idea of how beautiful it is.
