LATHRAN, LATHERSON, LATHERTON,LATHERSON, LATHERN,
Noted name of William Lathran on 1790 County Census, and wonder that this
may be an distant ancestor of mine, if so he may be a direct relative of
my great, great, great, greatgrandfather!! Richard Latheron. I believe that
they were Scottish and therefore the pronunciation of the surname would sound
like latheran or lathran. (It's my theory and I'll stick to it).
If anyone comes across the names Latheron, Latherton, Latherson, Lathern,

My Joel Ledbetter first appeared in Montgomery County census of 1800. He
lived in the part that became Stanly County when it was formed. They lived,
and some still do, in Stanly County on the Rocky River across from Union
and Anson County. He was born about 1777 and died in 1843 in Stanly Co. NC.
His wife was Lydia Keaton. I don't know who he was descended from but suspect
Rev. Henry Ledbetter of Caswell County, NC and the Charles Ledbetter family
that settled in the Montgomery County area.
I have a reasonable amount of info on his descendants and I am one of them.
My mother is a Ledbetter from Stanly Co. My Ledbetter family is connected
with the Austin, Smith, Thomas, Stewart, Hinson, Harward, and Huneycutt families
of the Union, Stanly, Anson, and Montgomery area.
I am not aware of Ledbetters in Chowan County. I would like info about them.
We have not been able to track Joel's wife, Lydia Keaton. Most Keatons were
in Perquimans and Pasquotank Counties. I have info on many of them in Virginia
and several NC counties.

Looking for information on the Sterling (Starling) Moore family. Was
his father William Moore? Sterling born around 1770 in Anson County.
He died in Wilkes County (Lovelace Township) around 1836-37. His children
were William born around 1793; Nancy born around 1795;
James born around 1797; Elizabeth born around 1799; Robert
(Robin) born around 1802; Jesse born in 1804; Sarah born
about 1806; Daniel born about 1808; and John born around 1813.
Sterling left Anson County around 1799 and moved to Rowan (now Davie) and
then on to Wilkes around 1816. Any info on Sterling and his pre-Wilkes family
will be appreciated.
