Am looking for my ancestors Hiram HOWARD b,d,unknown, and Cinthia BENNETT, b,d unknown. They were married 10/20/1818 in Wilson Co. TN, but believed to had come from Montgomery County to TN.

In the 1810 census for Montg. Co Hiram HOWARD (and Wm Howard) and Solomon BENNETT (and Mark and Jacob Bennett). are listed. and the 1820 census for Wilson Co. lists both Solomon BENNETT and Hiram HOWARD.

The Wilson Co TN Wills Book refers to Wm Howard Will of 11/7/1814: Wm Howard of Montgomery Co NC, heirs sons John, Wm, Bradford, daughter Nancy Edwards, with Hiram Howard as executor.

Was Cinthia BENNETT in Montgomery Co. NC in early 1800's? Who were her parents? When was she born?

Were ther families of HOWARDs in Montgomery Co. NC in late 1700's early 1800s? (The 1800 census for Mont. Co shows the presence of John HOWARD)..

Was Hiram HOWARD born in Montgomery Co? Who were his parents? How long was Hiram HOWARD in Montgomery Co?

In the l820 census for Wilson Co. TN Hiram Howard (along with Wm Howard) and Solomon Bennett are listed. Sharon Johnson Annapolis, MD

Noted name of William Lathran on 1790 County Census, and wonder that this may be an distant ancestor of mine, if so he may be a direct relative of my great, great, great, greatgrandfather!! Richard Latheron. I believe that they were Scottish and therefore the pronunciation of the surname would sound like latheran or lathran. (It's my theory and I'll stick to it).

If anyone comes across the names Latheron, Latherton, Latherson, Lathern, Latheran or Lathran (or similar) I would be grateful for the information. Nick Latheron

My Joel Ledbetter first appeared in Montgomery County census of 1800. He lived in the part that became Stanly County when it was formed. They lived, and some still do, in Stanly County on the Rocky River across from Union and Anson County. He was born about 1777 and died in 1843 in Stanly Co. NC. His wife was Lydia Keaton. I don't know who he was descended from but suspect Rev. Henry Ledbetter of Caswell County, NC and the Charles Ledbetter family that settled in the Montgomery County area.

I have a reasonable amount of info on his descendants and I am one of them. My mother is a Ledbetter from Stanly Co. My Ledbetter family is connected with the Austin, Smith, Thomas, Stewart, Hinson, Harward, and Huneycutt families of the Union, Stanly, Anson, and Montgomery area.

I am not aware of Ledbetters in Chowan County. I would like info about them. We have not been able to track Joel's wife, Lydia Keaton. Most Keatons were in Perquimans and Pasquotank Counties. I have info on many of them in Virginia and several NC counties.

Jane Aldred is listed in the 1850 census of Montgomery County, (dwelling #223, family #225). She is shown as head of household, and age 48. Children living in the household were: Elizabeth 27; Durncan 25; Calvin 21; and Christian 18. Wm. L. Johnson, 15, her nephew, was also living in the household.

She was a daughter of John D. McLean, immigrant from Scotland, who lived about four miles east of present day Ellerbe, N.C. The Sessional Records of Harmony Presbyterian Church, now Ellerbe Presbyterian Church, show that she married "an Aldred" and moved to the bounds of Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church. Mt. Carmel is located on the border of Montgomery and Richmond Counties.

Seek given name of Jane's husband, and the name of her mother. Any information about her children will also be appreciated.

I am seeking information on my (ggg)grandfather. His name was John ROBINSON and the 1850 census indicates he was born in Virginia in 1782. He owned property in the Dyson's Creek area near Mt. Gilead. I do not know the name of his first wife but he married a lady named Jane(Jincy) MCAULAY some time around 1842. There is a copy of a marriage contract on file in the Dept. of Archives. Later the property they owned together was disposed of at a sheriff's sale. The only descendent I can be certain of is his son, Linington ROBINSON although census record indicate that he may have had another son and a daughter. His date of death is unknown. Linington married Ann MCKINNON and their descendents are well known. The name Linington has popped up in the family for a number of years since the first (known) Linington ROBINSON, John's aforementioned son. I am trying to make a connection with a family bearing that surname which originated in New York in the late 17th century. It is very likely that the LININGTON given name comes from that family's surname. Any information anyone has would be helpful as I am at a dead end with John.
