Noted name of William Lathran on 1790 County Census, and wonder that this
may be an distant ancestor of mine, if so he may be a direct relative of
my great, great, great, greatgrandfather!! Richard Latheron. I believe that
they were Scottish and therefore the pronunciation of the surname would sound
like latheran or lathran. (It's my theory and I'll stick to it).
If anyone comes across the names Latheron, Latherton, Latherson, Lathern,

LEDBETTER
My Joel Ledbetter first appeared in Montgomery County census of 1800. He
lived in the part that became Stanly County when it was formed. They lived,
and some still do, in Stanly County on the Rocky River across from Union
and Anson County. He was born about 1777 and died in 1843 in Stanly Co. NC.
His wife was Lydia Keaton. I don't know who he was descended from but suspect
Rev. Henry Ledbetter of Caswell County, NC and the Charles Ledbetter family
that settled in the Montgomery County area.
I have a reasonable amount of info on his descendants and I am one of them.
My mother is a Ledbetter from Stanly Co. My Ledbetter family is connected
with the Austin, Smith, Thomas, Stewart, Hinson, Harward, and Huneycutt families
of the Union, Stanly, Anson, and Montgomery area.
I am not aware of Ledbetters in Chowan County. I would like info about them.
We have not been able to track Joel's wife, Lydia Keaton. Most Keatons were
in Perquimans and Pasquotank Counties. I have info on many of them in Virginia
and several NC counties.

Thu Sep 25 1997
I am seeking information on my (ggg)grandfather. His name was John ROBINSON
and the 1850 census indicates he was born in Virginia in 1782. He owned property
in the Dyson's Creek area near Mt. Gilead. I do not know the name of his
first wife but he married a lady named Jane(Jincy) MCAULAY some time around
1842. There is a copy of a marriage contract on file in the Dept. of Archives.
Later the property they owned together was disposed of at a sheriff's sale.
The only descendent I can be certain of is his son, Linington ROBINSON although
census record indicate that he may have had another son and a daughter. His
date of death is unknown. Linington married Ann MCKINNON and their descendents
are well known. The name Linington has popped up in the family for a number
of years since the first (known) Linington ROBINSON, John's aforementioned
son. I am trying to make a connection with a family bearing that surname
which originated in New York in the late 17th century. It is very likely
that the LININGTON given name comes from that family's surname. Any information
anyone has would be helpful as I am at a dead end with

Am researching the families of Richard Blake (born 1811, died 1860) and
his wife Martha "Patsy" Chappell (1820-1901) An Elizabeth Chappell (age 73)
was living with Richard and Martha in 1850 in Montgomery County. Assume that
this was Martha's mother and have heard that she was a Hogan. No proof. Would
particularly like to find out more about Richard and Martha's parents, brothers,
and sisters.
