Lemuel Barnhill & wife Lesena to Daniel Hopkins Deed
This in denter Maid and Entered into this the fourth day of May in year of our Lord
One Thousand Eight hundred and thirty five between Lemuel Barnhill and his wife
Lezinah Barnhill of the County of Martin and state of North Carolina of the one part
and Daniel Hopkins of the County of Edgcom and state aforesaid of the other part
Witnesseth that for an in consideration of the sum of One hundred dollars to us
Lemuel Barnhill and Lizinah Barnhill his wife in hand paid by the aforesaid Daniel
Hopkins the Receipt is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained and sold
conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do give grant bargain and sell enfeoff
and convey unto the aforesaid Daniel Hopkins to him his heirs executors
administrators and assignees forever one sertain track or parcel of land lying and
being in the County of Pitt and on the South side of Coneto Creek buted and bounded
as follows Beginning in the run of Coneto Creek at Letter B William Hopkins corner
thence south 85 East to a sweet gum in the back line thence south 20 west 10 pole
then South 37 East 21 pole to a Read oak thence south 19 west 37 pole to a pine
in Robinson Jinkins line thence north 61 west 50 poles to a small sweet gum in a
Branch thence north 77 west 64 poles to a water oak thence north 51 west to Coneto
Creek at Letter C Elisha Porters corner thence up the various courses of the said creek
to the first Station containing by Estimation one hundred and three akers be the same
more or less To have and to hold unto him the said Daniel Hopkins his heirs and
assignees forever the above mentioned track of land and primises with all the
appertaininces thereunto belonging or other ways appertaining thereunto and we the
said Lemuel Barnhill and wife Luzinah Barnhill have here unto set our hands fixed
our seals the year and date above written Signed Seal and delivered in the presents

Then the deed was exhibited into open Court and acknowledged by Lemuel Barnhill
to be his act and deed ordered to be registered.

Personale appeared in open court Lisina Barnhill wife of Lemuel Barnhill and
acknowledged that the aforesaid Execution of this deed was done willingly and freely
of her own accord without restraint or cupprelsion which acknowledgement is made on
private examination before us

This is the land drawn by Lizinah Hopkins Barnhill as heir of Lewis Hopkins.
Who I believe was her brother. Evidently he and his father William Hopkins (III)
died at about the same time. See Division of the Lands of William Hopkins
and his son Lewis Hopkins in 1826. See Pitt Co. DB EE page 8.
I have not corrected the spelling and have tried to copy the deed as written.
Note the different spellings of Lizinah.
