The
information on this site is provided free of charge by the Wayne County,
NCGenWeb.
If you are being charged to access this information, please contact Diana
Holland Faust. My wife, Lee, and I went to the cemeteries listed below and video taped
each grave. We then transcribed the information to this list.
We checked our list against “Gravestone Inscriptions, an Inventory of Cemeteries
in Wayne County” here-after referred to as “The Book” and also parts of
the WPA. We checked, double checked, cross-checked, and re-visited
the cemeteries, and expect that there may still be errors; especially considering
how difficult it is to read some of the stones. Since The Book
was published prior to our visit to the cemeteries, after each list I have
listed entries in the book that I did not see at the cemetery.
The WPA entries are noted where they differ from others. I put the
information in a format I think will be easier to use. We tried to
start at one end and weave back and forth along each line as best as we
could tell them, and that is the sequence of the list. In some cases,
when the surname was not given, I used the surname of the husband or father.
These are our personal work-sheets and not intended for publication, however,
anyone may use them as they wish.

Salem Cemetery:
Located at intersection of S.R. 1313 and 1300.
Follow Hwy 117 north from Goldsboro to Belfast. Turn left on SR
1313. Follow SR 1313 to SR 1300. At that intersection, the Salem
Methodist Church is at your right. Look across and to the right to see the
cemetery.
There is a drive that divides the cemetery in half. The drive
starts at the road and goes back. We started on the left (south)
side, went to the back and then switched to the other side and started
back toward the road.
