Nathan Burger Home, Pikeville



Nathan B. Berger was born 25 September 1866.  He died 13 January 1936.  His tombstone  in Willowdale Cemetery in Goldsboro, NC. is inscribed, "Nathan Ballenberger" and  bears a Masonic emblem.  He was born Nathan Ballenberger, son of Joseph Ballenberger of Frankfurt, Germany and Martha Langston (called Patsy) of Wayne County, North Carolina. 

Nathan Berger married Georgia Tolar of Goldsboro, Wayne County, North Carolina.  She was born 10 July 1880, the daughter of Zilpha Tolar, and died 17 December 1965 at Forest Hills Nursing Home (now Guardian Care).  Nathan and Georgia had no children.  

Nathan was president of the school board in Pikeville and was President of the Bank of Pikeville.  After Nathan's death, Georgia Tolar married Andrew Garris of Pikeville.  Georgia is buried next to Nathan at Willowdale Cemetery; on the other side of her is Andrew Garris.  

The Berger house is now used by a bookkeeping and tax service.
