Guy LeRoy Cruise, the son of William H. Cruise and Ida (Slaight) Cruise, was born April 15, 1888 at Burlington, Colorado in a sod house. Guy's parents, with their four children, came by covered wagon to the St. Edward area and settled on the place west of St. Edward. Later they lived in a sod house northwest of the St. Edward community.

On March 16, 1910, Guy married Edith Condreay at Albion, Nebraska. They moved to Buffalo County and lived in the Kearney area for several years. They had four children: Ida Clarisa born June 6, 1911 (Mrs. Kenneth M. Stevens); Opal Arline born May 17, 1916 (Mrs. Joe Touchstone); Marvin LeRoy born January 17, 1917 (married Clarice Johnson of Newman Grove); and Fay Eldon born June 20, 1919 (married Eleanor Dreager of Albion).

In 1914 the family returned to Boone County. Several years later the family moved five miles southwest of St. Edward, where they lived in School District #54 for thirty years. They rented the same farm from Giddon Rush and descendants for twenty-eight years. In 1947 they bought the farm known as the "Webb Farm" on the Bogus Creek.

Guy and Edith both came from farm families. Edith's father, George Washington Condreay, was also an ordained minister. He filled the pulpit in the absence of the minister. George W. Condreay and his father George Condreay moved to the St. Edward area from Adair and Cass County, Iowa.

Guy farmed all his life. He farmed for many years with horses and mules. Besides farming, Guy also bought, traded and broke young horses and mules. Besides doing housework and teaching the children to do chores, Edith also helped with the farm work. She helped in the breaking of young horses and mules, milking the cows and with the field work.

Edith died in January 26, 1956. Guy later married Gertrude (Pittact) Boschen Feb. 4, 1961. After Guy married Gertrude, the extended Guy Cruise family would have Sunday lunches at the farm for the whole family. The children would enjoy riding the horses the Guy would saddle up for the kids. The kids were allowed to ride the horses around the farm house all day and Guy would supervise the kids in cooling down the mares after riding.

Guy died April 26, 1977 and was laid to rest beside Edith in the St. Edward Evergreen Cemetery. After Guy's death, Gertrude moved into town next to Fay Cruise and lived until her health forced her to move to the Cloverlodge Nursing Home. Gertrude died October 1986 and is buried in Columbus, Nebraska.
