1) Florence BARBER very nice small oval. She is well dressed, seated. May 23, 1912 - "To Elmer Sparks from Florence BARBER, Teacher". Think best match is child of Linus Barber, see Compendium of History Remininscense & Bio. of Nebraska page 914.

2) Lee JOHNSON - no date - nice appearing young man (20's??)

Notes - in 1920 census, living at Plum Creek, Boone, NE ... "next door to my grandparents Frank and Mabel Becklam" - I find

     James L. Johnson 48, b Iowa

     Ella N. Johnson wife, 32, b NE

     Lee J. Johnson son, 20 b NE

     Margaret Johnson daughter, 5, b NE.

This family also appears in 1900 and 1910 census - where a third child is present, D'ette born Dec 1897, NE. See image #4 below. See also biography page with census information supplied by CK Welch)

3) Edith JOHNSON - no date - young woman (20's??) - her photo has darkened somewhat through the years, but not too badly.

4) Family photo: The JOHNSON family - Jim & Ella with children Lee and DeEtta, Margie. No date. Youngest child might be 4-6 yrs?? old. Photo in excellent condition.

Is it possible to determine the gravesite?

Homestead in Boone County, Nebraska - photo was in boxes that I got from my Grandmother Clarisa Stevens.

Maybe someone out there could identify this family? My thoughts - it's either a Cruise, Condreay, Carder, Whitlatch or Hazlitt homestead.

SMITH-STEVENS family photo - left to right
   Front row: Alonzo Benjamin Carl Delos Smith (Pvt Co A, 13th Iowa Infantry) and Vincent F. Stevens (Pvt Co A, 13th Iowa Infantry).
   Back row: Mary Jane (Stevens) Smith - sister of Vincent, and Almyra Pearl (Mann) Stevens. This picture was taken around the 4th of July 1910 in Linn Co., Iowa. Alonzo Smith lost his right arm below the elbow at the Battle of Shiloh. Vincent was captured outside of Atlanta GA in 1864 and spent the rest of the Civil War in the Andersonville Prison Camp. His nickname at Andersonville was Limber Jim. Vincent died 8 May 1911 and Almyra died 15 December 1915. Both are buried in the St. Edward Evergreen Cemetery.
