ADDY:
Seeking any information about AMANDA JANE (BOWER) ADDY, b. 21 April 1888 Mercer Co, MO, d. July 1975 Bakersfield, Kern Co, CA.  Amanda  (1) ADDY and a (2) James A. WILSON.     Amanda went by the name of  Mandy, daughter of Adam F. Bower Jr. and Rebecca Matilda (Franklin).  The family of Adam and Rebecca moved to El Dorado Springs, Cedar Co, MO in 1895 and both died in 1904.  The estate was finally settled in 1920, at which time "Mandy Addy of Box Butte, Nebraska" received her full share.  The only other clue I have is from an old letter in my grandmother's estate which said "Mandy Wilson lived in Bakersfield, California."  I have located Amanda Wilson in the Social  Security Death Records with a matching birth date, so I assume this to be her. Amanda (Bower) Addy married JAMES A. WILSON in 1922 in Box Butte, NE.  They moved the Bakersfield CA.  I do not know if Amanda was widowed or divorced, or where she married first to Mr. ADDY.  I would like to know anything about the family, any children of
either marriage.  I would like to know what they were doing in Box Butte, NE.  Does the name ADDY ring any bells to anyone?? Barbara Bower5-15-2002

BURTON, BERG, EUBANKS, JOHNSTON, ALLOWAY:
Eliza Jane Burton was born in Winterset, Madison, Iowa on 2 Nov 1870.  her family moved to Box Butte County somewhere between Mar 1883 and Oct 1885.  Her parents were William Taylor Burton and Mahala Ann Smith.  We know that she was married to at least 4 men in her life time.  The first marriage was to Tom Eubanks who was born in about 1868 in Northville, Tennessee.  We believe they were married in about 1889.  They had one child, Truman Eubanks was born in Lawn, Box Butte, Nebraska on the 17 July 1890.  Truman died in Dec 1966 in Stevensville, Revballi, Montana.  My aunt Cora Herring Lough believed that Tom was a "Gambler: and was killed in Thermopolis, Hot Springs, Wyoming.  He supposedly died in a gun fight.  I'm not sure if that was in 1890 or 1891 that this happened or if Eliza Jane divorced him before this happened.  We do know that Eliza Jane was married on 2 Oct 1891 to Isham K. Johnston in Box Butte, Nebraska.  We think she was later divorced from Isham.  Isham was born in Dearborn County, Indiana in about 1856.  Eliza Jane and Isham had no children together.  From my Aunt Cora's records we have Eliza Jane Married two more times.  Supposedly an E. J. Berg about 1910.  Then she married again to a Roy Alloway in about 1925.  Eliza Jane died in Seattle, Washington on 4 Mar 1958.  If anyone can help me find information on Eliza Jane or her 4 husbands, I would really appreciate it.  John Herbst
