Chapel on the Bow cemetery was the original name of the
now St. Joseph's Cemetery at Constance.

Constance, Nebraska, was originally called Centre Bow. The
school went up in 1874. The people belonged to the St. Helena Parish
until 1877 when Bow Valley established a parish and Centre-Bow became
a mission under them. In 1888 Centre Bow was renamed Constance after
the home town of the local priest who was from Konstanz, Switzerland.
The Church was built in 1894 and was a mission until 1896. In May
1899, lightning destroyed the church tower and front of the church.
The Holy Cross Chapel was built on the Lammers Ranch six miles
southeast of Constance. The chapel was a mission to Constance until
Fordyce was established.
