Korth ====================================================================== EVAN BINKERD Evan F. Binkerd, 65, former Vice President of Armour and Co., died Wednesday at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital. Mr. Binkerd was born March 30, 1919 at Lynch, Nebraska to Archie and Verna Binkerd and moved to Phoenix nine years ago from Illinois. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1942. Mr. Binkerd started his career with Armour in 1942 as a research chemist. He became director of research in 1967 and served as vice president of research and development from 1971 to 1978. He retired in 1981. He was vice president of Picowave Processors Inc. from 1980 to 1983 and consultant to the President of Emergent Technology Inc. since 1982. Mr. Binkerd participated in the White House Conference of Food, Nutrition and Helath, was advisor of the U.S. Codex Alimentarius Commission, an advisor on foot and mouth disease for Argentina and was a consultant to Foundation Chile. Mr. Binkerd received the Distinguished Achievement award from Iowa State University Club in Chicago in 1975 and the Industrial Achievement award from the Institute of Food Technologists in 1979. Survivors include his wife, Jerene of Phoenix and two brothers, Gordon of Illinois and James of Nebraska.
