Korth ====================================================================== JERENE BINKERD Jerene “Jerry” Halleen Binkerd of Phoenix passed away on May 15, 2008. She was born on August 27, 1918 in Bloomfield, Nebraska to Walter and Mabel Halleen. Before moving to the Valley, she lived in Downers Grove, Illinois where she worked for the Chicago Tribune newspaper as a proofreader. She was actively involved in volunteering for Junior Golf in the Valley and also was a volunteer with the ASU Women’s golf program. She was preceded in death by her husband Evan Francis “Bink” Binkerd in 1985. She is survived by her nephews; Jay Johnson (Kim) and Jim Cravens. Although she and Evan had no children of their own she is also survived by a group of close friends she lovingly referred to as her “kids”.
